Dr. Sarah Saslow is a chemist by training with an ongoing interest in fundamental and applied geochemical research. As a postdoctoral research associate in the Geosciences group, her research focuses on the immobilization of 99Tc. Prior to joining the PNNL team, Sarah was a PhD student at Northwestern University researching the chemical and electrostatic properties of mineral/water interfaces and the impact these properties have on metal contaminant transport through the environment. She has experience using a variety of spectroscopic and analytical techniques, including nonlinear optics (Second Harmonic Generation), XPS, XRD, SEM/EDS, ICP-OES, ICP-MS, AFM, EMPA, and Raman Spectroscopy. She also has past experience and continued interest in research pertaining to planetary science and deep-Earth geochemistry.
