Biography

Ms. Bruun joined the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, which is operated by Battelle Memorial Institute for the Department of Energy, in February, 2010. She is presently an administrator for the Geosciences Group. Her background lies in her 30 years of being a successful business professional. As lead group administrator to a large group of scientists and students. She provides superior administrative assistance to this diverse group located in Richland, WA and several staff located off-site. Cheryl has Customer Service oriented values and has the ability to work with a broad range of personalities with high expectations. She achieves success in a changing environment. Cheryl enjoys working with her group and Technical Group Manager Chris Brown, and is very interested in their research and activities.

Cheryl grew up in Richland and graduated from Richland High school. She left the area for 30 years and returned to be closer to her family and work for PNNL. Her entire family lives in the area, including two siblings that also work for PNNL. Cheryl has lived in Hawaii, Los Angeles, Utah, and San Diego, with her last address being New Jersey before moving back to the Tri-Cities. She worked for a major U.S. airline for 20 years. During that time, she had the chance to travel all over the world. Some of the favorite places that she has traveled to include Bali, Morocco, Egypt, Israel, Prague and Greece. She enjoys golf, family ski trips, and annual vacations to California and Hawaii.

  • April/2013-Facilitating and preparing for the National Risk Assessment Partnership Program review meeting.
  • September/2013-Outstanding efforts in eliminating a building wide back log of un-reconciled compressed gas cylinders.
  • December/2013-Appreciation for Extraordinary Support and help during the EED moves at the end of FY13.
  • June/2014-In recognition for my outstanding efforts for helping The Ecology Group while they were between administrative assistants.
  • December/2015-For your repeated efforts to go above and beyond the call of duty to support our staff.
  • June/2016-For my outstanding organization and management of the NRAP Technical Review Meeting.
  • March/2017-For my outstanding efforts for enabling timely execution of our projects and ensuring the safety of our staff.
